Interest rates seem high now, but remember, it’s all relative. The history of mortgage rates tells a different story.
I was a stockbroker in the 80’s and remember when interest rates were double digits.
When I became a mortgage broker in 1990, my first loan was a refinance for a high-rise in Century City. I remember it clearly. I was able to decrease the borrower’s rate to 10.75% and my client was deliriously happy! We chased the falling rates for a decade until she sold her condo.
So, before you tell me interest rates are too high, take a look at this graphic of historic interest rates, by decade.
Hmmmm. Maybe they aren’t so high after all.
